Animal Success Stories
Donnie
This is the Facebook post I shared 1 week after adoption Chase (aka Donnie).
*Hello world! My name is Chase Sobrevilla. I am a labrador retriever cross,
and I am almost 11 weeks old. I still have puppy breath and love giving
love bites with my sharp little baby teeth.*
*Thank you Mary Wong
, Justin Bartlett
Animal Rescue, and all the volunteers for all you do to find, rescue,
rehabilitate, and home animals.*
*Mom and dad met me last Friday night at the Office Depot Foundation Summer
Internship Graduation, and decided to make theirs my forever home. <3*
*Big brother Wilson came to the hospital to meet me, and whilst he gets
cross with me sometimes when I take his toys, he is starting to share "his"
humans with me more. I have learned not to bother him while he is eating
too which helps. Yesterday, whilst coming home after our walk, he playfully
challenged me to a race down the corridor. I think I am winning him over.
My Savannah Sobrevilla human
welcomed me with a squeal of delight and lots of loving cuddles. I was a
big surprise for her.*
*Mom and dad say I am a very clever pup, that I am learning very fast, and
that I am going to grow into a BIIIIG dog one day. It's day three in clan
Sobrevilla and I am walking well on a leash - I especially like following
big brother Wilson and nibbling his tail and ears. I am being walked every
hour and learning to do all my business outside on the grass. Mom gets
especially excited when I poop outside.*
*I am one of the lucky rescued animals that found a home. I am one of the
lucky BLACK rescues that was chosen. My family pack was very shocked and
saddened to learn how black animals are discriminated against, and how they
tend to land up in the kill shelters more than any other animal. Mom says
she chose me because I am so beautiful and black all over.*
*Thank you for spreading this awareness of the plight of black animals
auntyMary Wong
and uncle Marc
Colton.*
*Mary, we are OVERJOYED with our fur-baby. He has given us so much love and
so much joy! We cannot imagine home without him now! We look forward to you
opening your all-black animal sanctuary Mary!*
*Sadly, I learned of our beloved Mayo's (chocolate lab) passing today. My
mom lay him down in front of the fireplace and petted him, while Dr. Sandy
Hepburn-Brown helped him
cross the rainbow bridge. It was time. We rescued him, and be recused us
right back for 10 years. Mayo left us Sunday night, and Chase came into our
lives Monday night. The most magical part? On the day we arrived home with
Chase, we were greeted outside the elevator by a big chocolate lab that
could have been Mayo they look so alike. Thank you Lord, angels, and
synchronicity. Mayotjie was cremated and laid to rest with my boetie and
all the other doggies. Thank you mama Whanadi Diddi Johnson
. I appreciate you so much
for how you have always honoured our animals.*
*We love you Mayo and will miss you so much!*
*Open your heart and adopt a black pet today!*
